The beginning

This lifted direct from the site of The Beast:

"The Russians Are Coming! 04/03/08Well, actually they're here!We have the first 9 packs from our massive Medieval Russian range available now. There are 8 packs on Senior & Junior Druzhina plus a fab Alexander Nevsky Character Pack, all sculpted by Rob Grandmaster Baker."

Standard!

Swiss Tomi kindly lent me the Osprey & in the absence of any Rugbo played by England I decided to have a browse.

Now oddly I have had a strange fascination with Mo Russia since A Level. That's a educational qualification from back in the day, before it was decided it had to have more letters. Seemed a large part of the European history bit was spent on it. Catherine the horse botherer ( a lie it seems, British spin of the time), Pedro the Great & all that. All tricorn era stuff so not relevant now but all rather fun.

The reason why I once owned a Russian 15mm GNW army. Ok the LoA contributed to that as well.

& Moz...

One of the first things I read was that old Harry Hardrada pops up amongst the Rus. Now that was interesting & forgive my ignorance. A fact forgotten or never known. On showing T & J the minis GB had sent, including "The Hard" all I could muster was, "you know lads.. Stamford Bridge, Fulford, York, we took you there once......Harry G. last saxon king...

whooped the Vikes there?

No?"

Blank looks. Tom did eventually recall who snuck a jammy away win at Senlac in 1066.

They tell me they are both very bright kids.

So anyway "The Hard" is worthy of some more research then.

Back to Swiss Toni's boy's then. Well the plates in the book are by Angus Mc so you know they are inspiring.
As is this pic lifted on the Beast site with all rights reserved & permission sort at some point & that -

I will need to find more ideas though & will consult the WRG book "Armies of Obscurity" & my good chum Mr Google.

First step will to be to blag the army list & put them into units so I can organise the pigment application.

Pips

Dave
